The when, the where, and the how to booking your Spring 2024 half session.
If you have typically booked a fall session, I want to tell you a little secret….. (imagine me whispering this)
“I take pictures in the Spring too.” ππ
But when, Anna? How do I book a Spring half session? What will I wear? Are these like mini sessions? Mama, I’ve got you! Let’s break this down so you can rock that Spring half session.
Are half sessions a mini session?
No, and yes. Many photographers offer mini sessions. Typically a mini session is 15-20 minutes per family – and I don’t do them. I know plenty of great photographers who do hold mini sessions, and they do an amazing job. BUT – this is me, and I just cannot give my clients the no-stress, fun experience in that amount of time. So a half session is a 30 minute session – which is half of a full session. Also, I will book my half sessions back to back. However, the max amount of families I will photograph at one half session date/location is 4. I like to spend time with my families. Y’all – we become friends. I don’t want to feel like I rushed you in and out, so my half session is perfect for that session that is not too long. Alright, moving right along here…
Spring half sessions dates
- MAY 19TH β LAKE GRAPEVINE β GRAPEVINE LOCATION β (3 SPOTS)
- MAY 20TH – ARBOR HILLS (2 SPOTS)
- MAY 29TH β CARROLLTON LOCATION (2 SPOTS)
- JUNE 3RD – FLOWERMOUND
- JUNE 9TH – FLOWERMOUND
- JUNE 21ST – SOUTHLAKE
So the first thing I know you are thinking to yourself – “What will my pictures look like at each of these locations?” Well, friend, I am going to show you!
Don’t sleep on this one! This location has some pretty amazing views and sunsets. There are rocky cliffs that surround the water. This is really one of my favorite locations.
May 19th β Lake Grapevine β Grapevine location β (3 spots)
May 20th (3 spots)
Arbor Hills Nature Preserve (Plano, TX)
If you are thinking you have already had a session at Arbor Hills, one session is one session. It can look completely different each season. This Spring Arbor Hills looks AMAZING! The grass is long and deep green. There are yellow flowers everywhere. It is perfect!
There are only 3 spots – because remember half sessions – not minis.
May 29th β Carrollton location (2 spots)
This location has amazing light if the sun is out. If not, it is just as beautiful because it is so green!
June 3rd & June 9th(3 spots each day) Flower Mound
Just look at that beautiful sunset! This secluded location is sure to give us a some beautiful light and plenty of room to run and play. (3 spots)
June 21stβ Southlake lakeside (3 spots)
This location has a lot of really beautiful light and lots of green spaces. And, yes, as the title says, it is right on the lake. I will be taking a quick trip over there to see what the lake level is like. Because many of my sessions are at or near the lake, the landscape changes based on the lake levels. So, I always take a fresh look at it before I bring clients to my favorite spots.

What to wear to your Spring half session?
My number one tip is to wear muted colors. That way the color is not over powering or causing a color cast.
When you are choosing outfits for your family, choose a solid neutral, plus a pattern, plus a color and that will make a nice blended palette that coordinates well
